Jeju United begins planning for next year with a number of challenges.
Jeju clinched “early” retention with two games remaining. Jeju (40 points) played out a goalless draw with FC Seoul in round 36, but ninth-placed Suwon FC (32 points) lost 2-3 to Suwon Samsung to secure their spot. Even if Suwon FC wins both of its remaining games, it cannot overtake Jeju. They will finish the season in ninth place.
Jeju will play Daejeon Hana Citizens at home on May 25 and Suwon FC on the road in the final match. Daejeon is the last home game, and Suwon FC will be looking to defend their 10th place finish, so it’s unlikely that Jeju will be able to pull away completely.
Jeju has had a rough season. The off-season saw the departure of In-Joo Gyu (Ulsan Hyundai) and Jerso (Incheon United), who were key components of Jeju’s attack, and new signings Yuri Jonatan, Hayes, and Kim Seung-seop haven’t fully lived up to expectations. The loss of “Captain” Choi Young-joon to injury from the opening game has also shaken the solid defense that was one of their strengths.
Head coach Nam Ki-il also dropped the baton. Acting head coach Chung Jo-guk has taken over for the remainder of the campaign. Chung has made some changes, such as switching from a three-back to a four-back and strengthening the defense in the center of the field, but hasn’t seen any significant results. The team’s flanking attack, a strength under Nam, has definitely disappeared.
Jeju’s first priority is the appointment of a head coach. Chung does not have a P-level coaching license. He will need to be included in the next round of P-level coaches to become a head coach. Amidst all the talk about the next P-level coaching class, Jeju is leaving no stone unturned in its search for the next head coach. 무지개토토 주소
Several coaches are in the running, including some with K League 1 experience. Jeju is carefully and seriously discussing the direction and composition of the team. Along with setting the direction of the team, they will also look for a coach to match.
Depending on who comes in, the style and color of Jeju’s football could change. The transfer market may also change. The team is also expected to change the composition of this season’s foreigners, which consists of Jotanan Ling, Yuri, and Hayes.
