After failing to hold on to a 2-0 lead and conceding a draw, Suwon Samsung’s acting head coach Yeom Ki-hoon expressed his disappointment in a press conference.
Suwon Samsung conceded goals from Kim Joo-chan and Acosti to draw 2-2 at home against Daejeon Hana Citizen in the 35th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Suwon World Cup Stadium in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, at 2:00 p.m. on September 29, conceding an equalizer in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.
Suwon, who are 1-4-1 in their last five matches, were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Gangwon FC the previous day (28) (27 points from 35 matches, 25 points from 34 matches for Suwon), and a win on Sunday would have given them their first top-four finish since becoming the bottom side on September 16.
Suwon took the lead in the 20th minute through Kim Joo-chan. A pass from the right into the center of the box found Kazuki open on the left and he delivered an exquisite open through ball for Kim, who found himself open on the left side of the box, to slot a low right-footed shot into the far post corner beyond the reach of Daejeon goalkeeper Lee Chang-geun.
Suwon added a second goal in the 29th minute. Kim Tae-hwan sent a long throw-in from the left side of the box that Daejeon defender Cho Yoo-min cleared off the line, only to find the back of Acosti’s head. Acosti made it 2-0 with a quick header in the box.
In the 35th minute, Daejeon pulled one back after a 2-on-1 pass between Kim In-gyun and Kang Yoon-sung on the right side of the Suwon box, and Kang Yoon-sung sent a low pass into the box, where Thiago finished with his right foot. With this goal, Thiago surpassed Lee In-gyu (Ulsan Hyundai) to become the league’s top scorer with his 16th goal.
However, the match ended in a draw after seven minutes of second-half stoppage time and an equalizer in the fourth minute of extra time. Thiago’s header from a long ball forward from the back was flicked on by Masa, who rushed into the box and shot home for a dramatic 2-2 tie.
In the end, Suwon failed to hold on in stoppage time for the first time in 43 days since Sept. 16, and remained at the bottom of the table with just 26 points, unable to move above Gangwon FC, which has 27 points. Only three games remain.
After the game, Daejeon head coach Lee Min-sung said in a press conference, “I’m satisfied with a point after being down 0-2,” while Suwon acting head coach Yi Ki-hoon said, “It’s a very disappointing game. I’m disappointed, but I’m sure the fans and players who supported us are also disappointed. The players tried their best, but the result was disappointing. We gave everything we could, and although the result was disappointing, we did our best,” he said, expressing his disappointment and that of the players. 온라인카지노
