LG veteran pitcher Kim Jin-sung has reached the 100-hit milestone in his career.
Kim pitched as the team’s second pitcher in a 5-3 win over Lotte at Sajik Stadium on Friday. With a 5-0 lead, he took over the mound from Im Chan-gyu and got two outs to close out the seventh inning.
With the win, Kim earned his 100th career hold.
After moving from NC to LG after the 2021 season, Kim became an integral part of the team. In his second season, he helped the team win its first regular season title in 29 years.
In 78 games this year, he has 21 holds and a 2.24 goals-against average, making him a veteran presence. 안전놀이터
“I’m glad I was able to protect Im’s win, and I’m glad I reached the milestone of 100 holds,” Kim said.
Reflecting on his time with 100 holds, Kim said, “There were a lot of hard times to get to this point, but it’s good that I proved what I can prove this season. I received a lot of help from my teammates, coaching staff, and others along the way. I feel like I was able to achieve my record because of everyone’s help. I’m grateful.”
Kim Jin-seong, who shared the joy of winning the regular season title, said, “It means a lot to me that I was able to fulfill my promise to the fans. First of all, winning the regular season makes me feel like I’ve kept my promise to the fans, and I’ll throw my arm out to win the Korean Series.” He added, “The fans have always supported me.
He continued, “I feel like I can endure the hardships because I have fans who always support me. Since the end is near, I will do my best to prepare so that I can smile at the end.”
