K League 2 (Part 2) Cheonan City FC’s chance to break through has arrived. Cheonan City will host the Jeonnam Dragons in the 33rd round of the 2023 Hana One Q K League 2 on March 23 at Gwangyang Football Stadium in Jeonnam.
Cheonan currently stands at 3W8D18L (17 points), trailing 12th-place Ansan (4W6D19L – 18 points) by one point. Cheonan recently recorded its first two-game winning streak in the franchise. After a 3-0 victory over Seoul Eland on Sept. 16, they beat Bucheon 1-0 on Sept. 20, a team that is in the thick of the K League 2 playoff race.
Encouragingly, the defense has improved recently. The defense has kept two clean sheets in a row. The back line of Park Jun-gang, Chao-yeon, Lee Kwang-joon, and Kim Joo-hwan has stabilized. In addition, 37-year-old defensive midfielder Shin Hyun-min has transformed the midfield with his dedicated defensive cover and quality build-ups. 토토사이트
Against Cheonan City, Jeonnam is also on the upswing. Jeonnam is on a two-game winning streak, having recently defeated Gyeongnam and Chungnam Asan. However, if Cheonan City draws with Jeonnam and Ansan loses to Seoul Eland, Cheonan City will be tied on points but will finish ahead on goal difference.
The race for the title is also fierce. Busan I-Park (59 points) has reeled off five straight wins to overtake Gimcheon Commerce (52 points) atop the K League 2 standings. The team has crossed the 7th division ridge to win the title with automatic promotion to K League 1 on the line. Busan has a day off this round. Gimcheon, who have played one less game, will welcome Anyang to Anbang on the 23rd. A win for Gimcheon would reduce the gap to four points. The championship race will be close until the end. However, Gimcheon’s performance has been declining recently. They have one draw and two losses in their last three games. They haven’t scored a single goal in those three games. On top of that, their main goal scorer, Cho Young-wook, is out of the national team for the Hangzhou Asian Games. Expect a tough match against Anyang.
