Harry Kane (30-Bayern Munich) celebrates.

Bayern Munich defeated Manchester United 4-3 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group A match of the 2023-24 season at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, at 4:00 a.m. ET on April 21. The result leaves Bayern atop the group with one win and three points.

Kane, who started as a frontline striker, struck first. In the 28th minute, Leroy Sane played a one-on-one pass with Kane in front of the penalty box, and as goalkeeper Andre Onana couldn’t get a hand to it, it headed straight into the net.

It was a close call. Six minutes into the second half, Dayo Upamecano’s header from a corner struck Christian Eriksen in the hand and the referee awarded a penalty kick (PK). Kane stepped up to take the spot kick and finished in the bottom left corner. Munich held on for a 4-3 victory, thanks to Kane’s goal and an assist.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Kane said, “It was good. It’s always nice to score a goal. It’s a great night. We are improving and we can enjoy the result tonight. It’s exciting to play with my Munich teammates. We’re still getting to know each other and I’m looking forward to the future. When you have a high price tag, you have high expectations, and I want to give back to the club for believing in me.”

“It’s still early in my career in Germany, so I’m still getting used to the players, the coach, and the way we want to play. I’m getting to know how the players around me move, how they run and what kind of passes they like. It will come naturally over time. The good thing is that we have started well,” he added.

After a long spell at Tottenham Hotspur, Kane made a sensational move to Munich this summer. The transfer was for a base fee of 100 million euros ($142.5 million) with an add-on of 20 million euros ($28.5 million). The contract 스포츠토토 is set to run for four years until June 2027.

Kane, who immediately took over as the first-choice striker, has been in fine goal-scoring form. He has four goals and one assist in four Bundesliga games and one goal and one assist in one UCL game, totaling five goals and two assists. Munich are also off to a strong start, sitting second in the league and first in their UCL group.
