The reason why Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) allowed Lee Kang-in to play in the Asian Games has been revealed.
French media outlet Pour Football Club revealed the reason for the club’s decision. “PSG has agreed to release Lee Kang-in for the Asian Games from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 (French time). PSG did not even negotiate with South Korea for the loan of Lee Kang-in,” it said.
“Lee will still have to fulfill 21 months of military service. However, winning the Asian Games provides an exemption. PSG is betting on the Hangzhou Asian Games.”
The outlet cited Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min as an example: “In fact, Son Heung-min won the 2018 Asian Games, reducing his military service to three weeks. PSG is interested in seeing South Korea perform at its best.”
Lee is currently recovering from injury and is set to make a comeback. He has already been injured twice since joining PSG. “I’m happy to join PSG,” Lee said in his signing interview. PSG has the best players in the world. I’m looking forward to meeting the PSG fans.” However, his performance was hampered by injuries.
Lee’s first injury came on his unofficial debut. He started the friendly against Le Havre AC in Paris, France, but had to leave the field due to thigh pain. He didn’t last long, but his performance was well-received. As French outlet RMC Sport put it, “Lee had a great debut. He quickly settled into the tempo of the game.
After his recovery, Lee joined PSG’s East Asia tour, but he didn’t get much playing time. He missed matches against Al Nasr (Saudi Arabia), Cerezo Osaka (Japan), and Inter Milan (Italy) in Japan. He played 20 minutes in the third leg of the Coupang Play Series against Jeonbuk Hyundai in South Korea.
After returning from injury, he was out of position. For the first two games of the French league, he played on the flank. I didn’t feel comfortable with my teammates. I had to be content with adapting to a new team and a new league.
Meanwhile, the situation at PSG changed dramatically. Neymar, the club’s biggest star, moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Starting midfielder Marco Verratti also left for Al Arabi in Qatar. Kylian Mbappe, who had been at odds with PSG throughout the transfer market, returned to the first team. Gonzalo Higuain and Ousmane Dembele joined PSG. 먹튀검증
According to French media outlet Le Parisien, “The rebuilding Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is lacking a starting point in attack. This role should go to the new South Korean player, Lee Kang-in.”
