Ronaldo, Neymar and other stars could return to the Champions League.
The Saudi Football Association is reportedly in talks with UEFA about the possibility of Saudi professional league clubs joining the UEFA Champions League in 2025, according to a report by the soccer publication Sportskida on Sunday.
Saudi clubs have been on a transfer market spree this summer. From Cristiano Ronaldo last winter to Karim Benzema, Neymar, Sadio Mane, Leandro Neves, N’Golo Kante, Brozovic, and many other top European players this summer.
The main reason for the move was money. The Saudis offer players much more money than they’re making at their current clubs, so it’s a no-brainer and many players don’t think twice about making the move.
But now, if the deal is finalized, players who left the Champions League will be able to return to it. While the Saudi Football Association hasn’t yet decided how it will select the clubs that will qualify for the Champions League, reports suggest that it will be the clubs that finish first in the Saudi Professional League. 스포츠토토
This means that the clubs will be more motivated to finish at the top of the league, as the Champions League is a cash cow for them. However, since Saudi Arabia itself is in Asia, not Europe, the reaction from the fans is not favorable.
“I am 100% sure that I will not go back to a European club. The door is completely closed,” said Ronaldo, so we may see him in the Champions League in 2025.
